PACE (PACIFIC ADVANCED CIVIL ENGINEERING) • DESIGN DRAFTING • TECHNICAL ILLUSTRATION
This decade experienced huge transitions away from hand-drawn drafting and over to CAD and computer graphics. 3D Modeling and animation had yet to be developed but AutoDesk AutoCAD emerged as an early powerhouse in Computer Aided Design. I made my own custom menus and programmed my own font to simulate my actual hand-lettering. In later years, I did the same with Adobe True Type Fonts and the font is prevalent throughout this website (font-family: 'coreyjames';). This illustration is part my design for the boat lock at Kelowna Waterfront Park.

I would hand draw/draft designs and scan them to be colored with PC Paintbrush which was limited to only 16 colors at the time.

It became blaringly apparent that CAD was the future of engineering design.

I created thousands of illustrations and hundreds of designs but things fast-tracked into high tech so I did not archive much of my design drafting work back then. Plus, blueprints yellow with age and do not preserve so well.
MEANWHILE...
Some of my garage-band friends wanted marketing art. In exchange, I attended quite a few club and party concerts for free.

OH, AND THE CARTOONS!
Obviously, I was not done with them yet.

Harry and BaskinKeithPeace
Hip Harry was super popular in college so why not flush him out and get him syndicated?
So... Now, volumes of hilarious Hip Harry cartoons are available in my compilation book:

During this time, I got pretty good at caricatures as well. One has to be careful with these though because it's easy to hurt people's feelings along the way.
Make a funny caricature without insulting the subject... Can it be done? The jury is still out on that one.

One of my early paying freelance gigs: a Christian Comic Book.

My friends and I enjoyed a little Dungeons and Dragons from time to time.
When I was Dungeon Master, I came up with a bunch of character illustrations to enrich the quest. Here a few of them.
